The purpose of the present paper is to analyze the contribution of Social Economy to the economic and social life of the individuals who are part of Vulnerable Population Groups and more specifically the population groups whose integration in the social and economic life is prevented from mental illness. The study focuses on the concepts of social economy and the features that characterize the Social Cooperative Enterprises (SCE) and differentiate them from other enterprises. The basic questions which will be answered are whether the SCEs contribute to the social and occupational integration of the mentally ill and if they do, in what way this is possible and which are the employment conditions and organizational structure of the SCEs. There has been an experiential survey with four semi-structured interviews with members of the Social Cooperative Enterprise ‘Climax PLUS’ which studies a contemporary social phenomenon in its natural environment and from the point of view of the participants in it. The basic conclusion of the research is that the sector of Social Economy and more specifically the SCEs contribute decisively to the integration of the mentally ill in the labor market along with their further autonomy.
